By the late 19th century, rummy had arrived in the US, where it quickly became very popular, especially with families and social circles. During the 1930s & 1940s, for example, Gin Rummy became a common game in American homes and was frequently played in living rooms and parlors. Indian Rummy, on the other hand, became popular in South Asia due to its distinct rules and focus on deft play.
